StrongMail is currently seeking a Solutions Engineer to join our team of experts in the US - Southeast Region. We are looking for a well-rounded individual willing to assume responsibility and grow at a rapid pace.
As a member of the direct sales team, the Solutions Engineer will be responsible for articulating the technical benefits and differentiators related to the products and services StrongMail has to offer. The Solutions Engineer will work directly with the Direct Sales Team supporting both prospect and customer engagements. This position incorporates traditional tasks and responsibilities applied to the rapidly growing field of Interactive Marketing.
The Solutions Engineer will bring a strong technical consulting background and will be responsible running technical discovery sessions, designing standard and custom solutions and presenting those solutions in the form of custom product demonstrations and presentations. StrongMail serves the world's top interactive marketers in four primary verticals; Retail, Media/Publishing, Travel & Hospitality, and Financial Services.
Responsibilities
This position functions as the technical point of contact for the field sales organization. The Solutions Engineer is responsible for managing several sales opportunities simultaneously and will report directly to the Sr. Regional Sales Manager. Up to 30% travel required.
In addition, the Senior Solutions Consultant will:
- Engage in a rapid education process including formal training, self-study and field experience designed to position the candidate as a technical expert on all StrongMail technologies and related solutions as quickly as possible.
- Respond to technical questions received via RFP and or RFI in an accurate and timely fashion.
- Conduct Technical Discovery sessions directly with prospects and customers. Technical Discovery is designed to uncover technical and marketing requirements to be addressed in presentations and demonstrations.
- Prepare custom prospect/client solutions to be presented within the StrongMail Products and Services suite. Work directly with Sales, Strategic Services, Professional Services to collaborate on and develop the overall Solution Presentation. Serve as the technical expert during the sales cycle.
- Present StrongMail technology infrastructure, including demonstrating deep familiarity with the company’s software solutions. Present prospect solutions onsite and/or via web-conference.
- Assist in the creation of technical account configuration documentation and technical statements of work. Prepare and provide client facing technical follow-up calls and documentation.
- Participate in weekly Solution Consulting and Product Management meetings to stay up to date on current technical concepts on future product enhancements. Attend all company provided technical
- Meet or exceed quarterly Management objectives and revenue targets.
Technical
- Knowledge of relational database concepts including specific knowledge of one or more of the following (Oracle, MS SQL, Sybase) including expertise in SQL
- Knowledge of Web architecture
- Knowledge of distributed computing and SaaS concepts
- Analysis and design skills of moderate complexity
- One or more programming languages (Java highly preferred, C/C++ desirable)
- Experience with Web Service APIs
- Background in email software services, messaging framework and technology a plus
Industry Experience
- eMail Marketing or other Interactive Marketing experience preferred
- Web Analytics solutions a plus (Webtrends, CoreMetrics, Site Catalyst)
Account Executive (San Francisco Bay Area)
The Account Executive position requires individuals to generate sales from both new and existing business accounts. As an Account Executive you will be involved in all aspects of the sales cycle; with a particular focus on creating opportunities, presenting product benefits, product positioning, return-on-investment discussions and closing business. Requirements

Enterprise Sales Engineer
StrongMail Systems is seeking a Sales Engineer to provide technical, product and functional support to help close sales opportunities. You will work with the sales team throughout the pre-sales process, including participating in sales meetings and technical discussions with prospective customers. The Sales Engineer plays a critical role in closing business and must possess a strong balance of consultative sales skills and broad technical knowledge.
This position will be responsibile for the successful implementation of our products at a customer site from initial pilot to full customer production rollout. In this capacity you will be an expert in our application functionality, technology and implementationto ensure 100% customer satisfaction and success with our software.
Responsibilities
- Ensure overall project success and customer satisfaction
- Act as liaison between integration partners, StrongMail Systems and customers
- Conduct monthly assessments that assess the implementation against StrongMail Systems leading practices
- Executing streamlined, error-free demonstrations for prospective customers
- Give technical architecture presentations
- Preparing and maintaining sales tools such as demonstration and presentation software, materials and equipment
- Assessing current needs of prospective customers prior to on-site demonstrations
- Answering technical questions regarding software capability, installation and system requirements
- Advise project team on optimal design and use of StrongMail Systems products
- Lead resolution of critical account issues
- Responsible for account status reporting both to customer and StrongMail Systems Management
- Create account review presentations
- Escalation point of contact for product or service issues
- Provide assistance to other Sales Engineers on complex technical and business issues
- Must live in either Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas, New York or Chicago
Qualifications
- 5+ years in the information systems or consulting field required
- Experience with full life cycle Enterprise Software product implementations highly preferred, implementation of other Application Server enterprise applications a plus
- BS in Computer Science or Mathematics
- Understanding of technical architectures, including RDBMS, client-server, package systems implementation, and internet technologies
- Ability to communicate complex technical analysis to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to analyze complex business and data initiatives
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate, manage, and ensure the success of StrongMail Systems deployments
- Ability to manage difficult project planning & implementation issues
- Ability to manage difficult customer situations
- Programming experience is a must (Perl, Java, Shell Scripting, or C++)
- Full understanding of Linux
- Experience with Web Services (SOAP/XML)
- Database/SQL Programming Experience
- Experience with reporting systems/solutions
