Email Delivery Guidelines
MAAWG Sender Best Communications Practices
The Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG) created the Sender Best Communications Practices document to establish responsible sender practices and technical configurations that bring greater transparency between legitimate high-volume senders and receiving ISPs. As co-chair of the Sender Subcommittee responsible for the document's creation, StrongMail took an active role in working with senders and receivers to develop the prescribed email marketing best practices and technical considerations.
By following these recommendations, senders help protect the channel with responsible practices that respect recipients' preferences, and ISPs are better equipped to recognize and properly deliver messages that conform to these specifications. StrongMail customers and all high-volume senders are highly encouraged to adhere to these email delivery and marketing best practices, which cover the following areas:
- Data capture and list hygiene
- Email authentication
- Sender reputation
- Bounce management and re-mailing
- Subject and message content
- ISP delivery mitigation and resolution
